I drew this one for my love story FFCCRoF fanfic I'm working on. This is one of the scenes. On the left is my Selkie character (AKA me), on the right is Alhanalem the Yuke. INTERTRIBAL LOVE. So controversiAL.... Oh no I can't stop talking like that.
As far as the art goes, I put forth a lot of effort into this so constructive critique is welcome. The background took like 10 minutes, somehow. o_o I just whipped the watercolor brush around and it happened. I don't know how.
Alrighty, first off .... squeeeeee! Another selkie-yuke pair! Oh and about Al himself; sympathetic character, cute design but GAD did I ever laugh so much when I heard his lines voice acted in that one part!! "It's a miräcle..!" That and the seldom heard dying phrase "Regrettable..". Well that wasn't funny at all, but just the weirdball accent. I've decided that it's part of his personality and that not all yukes talk like that.. It's a bit of a turn-off here
Crits.. The metal shine works very well. And the fuzzyness in the fluffy-furry parts, although in his hands the contrast could be bigger. It's good for the selkie fur trimmings. I feel she might have a tad too thick neck, but I love how her hair looks. Very sharply done, softly coloured and the subtle shine suits fine. She might need a bit more hair volyme to the back of the head, but that's just me. I've somehow gotten into 'big hair' and anything less looks like something is missing.. Oh and her arms could be longer, as fingers usually reach halfway of the thigh and to me it looks like her fingertips would only reach down to slightly below the point where leg attaches to the body. (does this make any sense? I'm bad at explaining ) His arms are great though!
Textures for fabrics are nice, though his attire could maybe have more creases for natural effect. The background is just perfect for a scene like that, it's pretty but doesn't steal the attention from the main thing
Can't say my views are any 'right' or anything, just trying to share some thoughts.

I agree, he was an amusing character. Though he got awfully alot abused by Meeth... Poor dear.
I watched the opening video over and over again just to see him move.. The scene with him firing up the fire magicite with the staff is something I've been wanting to draw but can't seem to get a hold of how to do it. :/ Oh, and the phrase... In game, sometimes when the character dies they say something. I think the boy clavat says "I'm sorry..." and ... bah, I already forgot what the girl clavat says. Others we didn't try, am curious though what the selkies and lilties say. No wait! The lilty girl screams if I remember right (experimenting was a cruel episode, but best success with getting a vocal phrase from them was with a very sudden death, like with a snotloads of skeletons all at once).
So, want to tell me more about this art trade thing?
-- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles club @ FinalFantasyCC!
Oh yeah Meeth was brutal to him, not to mention all the discrimination he suffered at the "sweaty man" workshop. That was sad Ah yeah that would be a cool picture Oh okay I understand what you meant. I never listened to what they were saying too closing, I was too busy trying to hit the Raise magicite with my finger X(
As for the art trade, I thought maybe we could both each other's selkie/yukes pairs.

Well, as far as I can tell your selkie is the wolfie one from CC on GC and the yuke is Al-type from RoF? Mine is shark eyes selkie and black mage yuke, both from GC. I also have another pair, it's a work in progress webcomic and they are custom characters... But, hm, I think the GC ones would be easier on you.
With what kind of artistic requirements? Like, full body, full colour, best-as-can-make, coloured sketch, what? Oh, and what would they be doing? Is that something to settle or something to come up by yourself?
-- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles club @ FinalFantasyCC!
Yeah my character looks exactly like the Selkie wolfie, except she has orange hair, green eyes, and the leather strap under her tubetopthing is light blue, along with the top of her skirt (it's all in the "love, undeniable" picture. Yeah and Al is just... Al There's pics of him everywhere.
I'd like to draw the shark eyes/black mage GC pair if that's okay
As for artistic requirements, I was thinking colored and shaded, but it doesn't have to be something super detailed that you slave away for days like you're painting the Sistine chapel lol! Background is optional, I'll probably just do a simple colored BG. I was thinking something cute/romantic for the pose. Like Al giving her flowers all embarrassed XD or hugging. Just something sweet.
So how about you? (Sorry for the wall of text)

I'm all for walls of text if it's about something interesting Which it is here
Sweet can do. Or, I have high hopes anyway. And I got a pretty good idea on your selkie from that picture you pointed out, so no problems there. Al(hanalem - handsome name he has!) should be clear waters also ref wise.
For me, I'd like ... hmm. I love the black mage helmet profile. So something where at least his head would be in profile. I also love the big luffy-fluffy hands How about a scene where them two are teasingly chasing each other? Who chasing who, up to you. As for background, optional is fine. Solid colour or gradient, or a natural setting, whichever fits best. And mine are no different from the game ones, she has silver gray hair, green eyes, black-n-white top, green shoulder thingies&skirt and black stockings.. oh and the fabric tied to the shins is white in base colour (I saw in My life as king that the shin thing was same green as the skirt and stuff. That did not look right after being used to the other way o_o) I take your selkies shin thingies are white in base as well?
I'll start working on this today.

Alright, and no rush. I have couple other projects (one of them said comic) that I alternate with if I seem to lose an edge on the stuff I was working on at the time. So coolie, let me know when yours gets closer to posting so I can post mine around same times.

Dying phrase? I don't know what part you're referring to
Thanks for the critique tips too!

Yes the shin thingies are white. Everything is the same as the regular wolfie, except her hair/eyes/etc. (stuff I mentioned before)
Oooo, big fluffy hands <3
Hehe yup that sounds like a good idea!
I'll start my half as soon as I can as well! Hopefully by the end of the week or early next week I can have it done.
But yeah, no rush on your end!
